TIA 2024: Insights from Rapido's CEO

TIA’s 2024 Capital Ideas Conference took place in April, and Rapido’s CEO Danny Frisco not only attended the event, he also spoke on a panel with other industry leaders. The event was attended by more than 1,500 brokerage-based logistics professionals, who came together to network, reconnect, and learn about the latest trends and ideas in the logistics industry. On his panel, Danny joined other industry leaders to discuss the importance of building a winning brand and a strong training program. We recently caught up with Danny to learn more about TIA 2024 and his key takeaways from the event.

What was your favorite part about the TIA conference?

“I always look forward to seeing friends, clients, and former colleagues at TIA. This event is one of the best conferences to connect with industry peers and gain insights into the latest trends and challenges facing the logistics industry.”

What was your key takeaway from the event?

“Based on the conversations I had throughout the event, it is clear that it is still a tough market in the industry. More than ever, I believe embracing innovations like outsourcing and technology will drive efficiency and enhance customer experiences. These strategies will separate companies in the future.”

Can you tell us about the panel you spoke on?

“I was part of a panel called ‘BuildingYour Brand: What Your Training Program Says About You.’ We discussed theimportance of a strong training program. Training is often overlooked at many brokerages, but it has such a significant impact on company culture, employee engagement, retention, and overall performance.”

Were there any emerging trends or innovations discussed during the panels that stood out to you?

“AI still seems very much like a buzz word and the industry doesn’t quite know what to do with it. There is a lot of talk but not a lot of action yet. I’m excited to see how AI can be implemented in future innovations for the industry.”

Did you have any conversations with other industry leaders that stood out to you?

“I had a lot of conversations that centered around recruiting and retaining talent. These seem to be ongoing challenges that are only becoming more and more difficult to tackle. I shared more details about Rapido, and how we approach recruiting, managing, and retaining strong logistics talent.”

In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges facing the logistics industry currently?

“The overall market is still highly challenging. Many people who I spoke with felt that it won’t likely turn around until Q1 or Q2 of next year.”

Do you plan to implement any new ideas or strategies discussed at the conference at Rapido?

“Yes, we do — but we are keeping some of this close to the chest for now. We want to find new ways to use technology in the future to support our offering, so there was a lot of research done behind the scenes at TIA to understand what this could look like. We are excited about what the future holds for Rapido.”
